    play at playback rate
  {-q | --rQuality} QUALITY
    set the quality used for rate-scaled playback (default is 0 - low quality, 1 - high quality)
  {-d | --debug}
    debug print output

再生

quality はデフォルト値が low である 0 なので 1 に変更

音量は適宜

$ afplay -q 1 -v .1 path/to/audio_file

バックグラウンド実行, プロセスの確認, プロセス kill

$ afplay path/to/audio_file &
[1] PID
$ jobs
[1]+  Running afplay path/to/audio_file &
$ # kill %ジョブ番号
$ kill %1
$ # もしくは
$ kill PID

見つからない場合や、他のターミナルから kill

ps aux | grep afplay | grep -v grep | awk '{ print "kill -9", $2 }' | sh
